Description
A colorful yellow and black writing spider, an orb weaver, is busy at her task of repairing her intricate web. Located in our edging of cat-nip mint plants, she's found the perfect spot to trap those pesky mosquitoes (and hopefully some stink bugs!) for her meals. Residing there for a few weeks, we were always careful not to disturb her, but she was impossible not to visit with and admire. Not aggressive or poisonous to humans, I've read that she will give you a chomp if disturbed ... the bite is similar to a bee sting, from what I've read. I kept my distance!
Also known as the arigiope aurantia or black and yellow agriope.

What a beautiful, colorful arachnid lady fixing up the house. Spiders are such incredibly interesting creatures and so much fun to watch whether weaving a web or capturing prey. Great close-up, Lois. L/fv/tw/Pin
