Description
Like a lot of people, I've always been charmed by the romance and nostalgia of covered bridges. Pennsylvania is home to many of these wonderful old structures ... some still in use. The Cuppett's New Paris Bridge, shown here, is actually located on private land and I don't think is being used now ... but it still seemed in pretty good condition, as of the time of this capture, April of 2012. It's located in Bedford County off of PA96, north of New Paris.
Original photographic image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikkor lens on a glorious spring afternoon. As usual, I couldn't help playing with it in Photoshop to give it a bit of a painterly feel.

The Cuppett's Bridge, as I recall when visiting there a few years ago, was sadly continuing to deteriorate. And it's a different design from many of the covered bridges folks are familiar with. Glad you visited her earlier, Lois. Nice shot. - Mike (V)
Lois Bryan replied:
Thanks Michael … I think you're right. I remember passing Cupperts reasonably recently and it did look pretty rode hard and put away wet. If it really is on private property, and it sure seemed to be, it can't be cheap to keep it up!!!

I love covered bridges, Oregon has a fair number of them also. I really should get around to photographing them, someday! I love this one and the treatment of it! The image has a very nice nostalgic feel to it! l/f
Lois Bryan replied:
Diane, you really should ... if you check online, I'll bet there are listings of where they are in your state.
