An adorable little male Gambel's quail zips among the rocks, scurrying for cover ... he's fast ... don't blink, you'll miss him!
My visit to Tucson, Arizona a few years back was like being dropped on the far side of the moon. A totally different world to what I'm accustomed to ... temperature, architecture, landscape, quality of the light and wildlife were all completely new to me.
The little Gambel's quail seen here was one of several that I spotted during my visit. I must say, these guys were tough birds to photograph. They are very fast and they seemed to enjoy teasing me with sightings of their cute little selves only when the light was at its harshest and when they knew I'd have a heck of a time getting close enough for a decent shot.
But I did manage one ... hope you enjoy!!

Welcome! I"m a photographer and digital artist living in the Mid-Atlantic area of the US. Drawing and creating my own little sketchy worlds are some of my earliest memories. Life did what it does and the art fell away, but I reconnected when digital photography was introduced. I enjoy adding to my love of photography by tinkering with computer art programs including Photoshop, Corel Painter, Rebelle and others , though I do not use Ai / Artificial Intelligence. I also love working completely freehand with no photo reference involved. All of which is allowing me to circle back to a semblance of my days of sketching and painting traditionally. Please be aware that we are currently experiencing a glitch in our system. The images in...

Marilyn thank you so much ... if you could have seen me scurrying around after these guys with my camera ... settings perfect for shade and bam ... they're in the bright light ... AHH!!! So cute but so frustrating!!!!! If you enjoyed him, though, that makes it all worthwhile!!!!

They managed teasing you eh? Another special work here Lois, textures, what do you use? Your treatments are extremely brilliant and I see very few that could come close to your technical expertise of presenting these works. I love the part once again of you not knowing if you got a good one because of their movement. It seems when you feel that way you always do and I know its the same with me. Anyway I love this one.
