A golden brown praying mantis gazes out at us … his gleaming eyes almost hypnotic!
A macro shot of an oddly colored preying mantis (ours are usually bright / light green) I found hanging out on the OUTside of one of our screen doors July 11, 2012. Image taken with the Nikon D300 and the 105mm vr Nikon/Nikkor macro lens. Aperture f/4.5, shutter 1/500.
Fine art and product purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... wall art will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

thanks, Sandi ... i don't know of anything else that aggravates me more than macros outside in nature ... but that can be more rewarding (that 1 in 500 shot that turns out, that is, lol)

Those things are just too weird but faced with one with a camera in my hand I would have wanted to get that close too! Great shot Lois, terrific macro there.
