Description
A favorite stop of mine is the wonderful Juniata Crossings Mercantile, built in 1818, and located on Route 30 between Breezewood and Bedford, PA.

This is one of their gardens that, unless you walk around the side of the enclosed porch, you will miss. Once a tavern and stagecoach stop, it is located near the bridge (crossing) across the Juniata river. Supports of the old stone bridge, also built around 1818, can still be seen just down the hill from the Mercantile. The old bridge itself, which was a covered bridge, was swept away by flood waters in March of 1936.
Image taken August 15, 2010 with the Nikon D300 and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. Edits in Photoshop CS4 and 5 with some digital hand painting with the Wacom Tablet for a painterly feel.
