On a sunny late summer afternoon, a stroll through beautiful Colonial Williamsburg, Va, brings in sight a truly charming old home. Lovingly restored and preserved she spends her time quietly observing the passing of time from behind her lush gardens where the colorful trumpet vines happily embrace the crisp white picket fence.
We stop in our stroll to look back at her ... and admire ... wishing she could tell us her stories!
This capture is of a portion of the mostly-white St. George Tucker House ...the rambling and graceful home of the prominent Colonial Williamsburg lawyer, Revolutionary War militia officer, legal scholar, and judge, St. George Tucker.
Image captured in September of 2017 with the Nikon D7000.

Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

Welcome! I"m a photographer and digital artist living in the Mid-Atlantic area of the US. Drawing and creating my own little sketchy worlds are some of my earliest memories. Life did what it does and the art fell away, but I reconnected when digital photography was introduced. I enjoy adding to my love of photography by tinkering with computer art programs including Photoshop, Corel Painter, Rebelle and others , though I do not use Ai / Artificial Intelligence. I also love working completely freehand with no photo reference involved. All of which is allowing me to circle back to a semblance of my days of sketching and painting traditionally. Gorgeous image / capture. I sent you a private message that I thought it might be the St. George Tucker House and I was correct. Most of that home is white, but on the far left there is this small addition in the gold color.
Lois Bryan replied:
Thanks so much, Marilyn ... I've about worn my eyeballs out trying to find out this particular mystery!!!!!

Lois, this is such a charming image of colonial days! The foliage draped on the white picket fence adds to the charm! L/F
Lois Bryan replied:
Joan thank you so much ... we had trumpet vine (which is what I think the orange flower foliage is?) at one of our homes years ago. It was very beautiful ... but very invasive!! Looks like our friends in Williamsburg have it well in hand, though!!
Larisa Fedotova

What a charming and inviting cottage, love your pov! Love Williamsburg LF
Lois Bryan replied:
Thanks so much, Angela ... I'm glad you liked the pov ... I tend to see something nice then get closer to get the full-on view ... but sometimes it's that first peek that is the best composition. I guess I stopped myself in time to get all the other elements into the shot ... for once, lol. I love the magnolia tree and the trumpet vine. Thanks again!!!
