Honored to announce that "The Simple Life" tied for 3rd place in the Fine Art America group "Sold on FAA" 's contest "Sold In December On FAA" January 7th, 2017. My thanks to the contest administrator Karen Wiles, and to everyone who voted for my image. Congratulations to my fellow winners, especially first place Morris Finkelstein.
Took the long way home from the grocery store one evening and went by this lovely old barn (Montgomery County, Maryland). As the shadows grew long, I noticed the light was doing that magical thing it sometimes does. So glad I had my camera!!!
Image taken on March 7, 2009 with the Nikon D40x and the 18-200mm vr Nikon lens. Shutter 1/640, aperture f/5.3, exposure -0.33, iso 400. Post processing included removal of some power lines in Photoshop and a trip to Photomatix for hdr.
NOTE: FINE ART AMERICA WATERMARK WILL NOT APPEAR ON PURCHASED IMAGE.
Welcome! I"m a photographer and digital artist living in the Mid-Atlantic area of the US. Drawing and creating my own little sketchy worlds are some of my earliest memories. Life did what it does and the art fell away, but I reconnected when digital photography was introduced. I enjoy adding to my love of photography by tinkering with computer art programs including Photoshop, Corel Painter, Rebelle and others , though I do not use Ai / Artificial Intelligence. I also love working completely freehand with no photo reference involved. All of which is allowing me to circle back to a semblance of my days of sketching and painting traditionally. Another beautifully rendered page from the past! The golden sunlight is spectacular here as it gently kisses and caresses every barn board and blades of grass in this tranquil setting. The softness of the approaching shadows marks the gentle passing of one day to another. This scene exudes wam quiet feelings. Thank you! L&F
