Description
A well loved old barn, alone in his field except for his friend, the tree, shudders down to his timbers. A wind is coming up, blowing and gusting across the land in stronger and stronger bands. Above him, the sky is turning a sickly shade of green and the clouds are twisting and twirling in a dizzying way. He's seen a lot of weather in all his years, but this looks different ... and not in a good way.
Better get a tight grip on your nails, old boy, this one could be a doozie.
I've lived in the Mid-Atlantic area of the US all my life ... a lot of years. And I'm seeing changes in our weather ... more and stronger storms ... things like tornadoes in areas where we never saw them before ... records for high summer heat or crazy rain amounts or no snow in winter are being broken every year. Whether it's global warming, man-made climate change or regular shifts in the earth's natural patterns or a combination of all ... of course I don't know. But I do know one thing ... we're not in Kansas ... and it doesn't feel like Oz, either.
This is yet another version of an old favorite of mine ... "Looking For Dorothy" and "Looks Like Rain" ... both also available here.
Image painted by hand, digitally, and very loosely based on one of my own photos captured near Bedford, Pennsylvania using Corel Painter 2019, a Wacom tablet and the art pen stylus and many beautiful digital brushes, including some of the popular Bob Ross brushes.
This image was NOT created using AI - Artificial Intelligence.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... it will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

Beautiful work, Lois. So representative of the declining family farm in rural America.

Beautiful, moody piece, Lois. I have noticed changes here in the way the seasons are unfolding. The colors seem to be changing later in the autumn and what snows we are getting seem to come later in the winter, as is the case this year. L/F
Lois Bryan replied:
Thanks, Scott!! Yes we've seen a number of changes here. We didn't get any snow at all this winter ... and the summers have been so hot!! Personally, I don't like the heat ... and the bugs, lol!!!
