Description
Honored to announce that "Between Storms" came in First / Tied for First / Came in Second-Third-? (this was a close one - a 5-way tie!) in the Fine Art America contest "Folk Art" 10/26/19. Many thanks to the contest administrator, Jack Torcello, and to everyone who voted for my image. Sincere congratulations to all the other winners!
Just south of Bedford, PA, tucked at the foot of the foothills of the Laurel Highlands of the Alleghenies is a bright red barn ... typical of the neat and tidy farms of the area. The January day is currently free from falling snow, though it had been a fluffy weekend and the fields and trees are covered. We know more of the white stuff is on its way, but until then the bright white of the sunny morning only seems to accentuate what color there is in the landscape.
This image was digitally hand-painted in Corel Painter with Wacom tablet and many of the beautiful Bob Ross style brushes. Based loosely on one of my own photos taken in January of 2019.
This image was NOT created using AI - Artificial Intelligence programs.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."

Wonderful work here Lois, I do wonder why the farmers seem to like red paint. Maybe it was cheaper back in the day. At any rate this piece is fantastic.

Lois, you have really achieved the perfect January mood, juxtaposing the wintry blue-grey sky against the warm red brick of the barn. This piece is so inviting and beautiful. I really love your work.
