Honored to announce that on Sept. 9, 2017 "Five Sunflowers Centered" won the Fine Art America contest "Sunflower Beauty, hosted by the "Visions Of Spring, Glances of Summer" group. Congratulations to the other winners and my sincere thanks to the group / contest administrator, Dora Sophia Caputo, and to everyone who voted for my image.
A grouping of five gloriously colorful sunflowers, freshly cut at a sunflower farm in Virginia, stand proudly in the morning light from the window in a clear glass mason jar. The perfect image of county / shabby chic for your home!!
This is a second version of one of my favorites. "Five Sunflowers Centered" is the same image as the previously added "Five Sunflowers" but breaks with photography and image protocol by centering the subject rather than using the rule of thirds. All of which simply means that I liked both and decided to add both. Let the viewer decide which one he or she prefers!
I adore sunflowers and funny old Mason jars ... so this image combines two of my personal favorites. The way the yellow petals and the clear glass and water in the jar pick up the sunlight always mesmerizes me.
Very loosely based on my own photography, and handpainted, digitally, in Corel Painter. Not created using any artificial intelligence programs.
