Description

One of our last visits to the Outer Banks of North Carolina included an early morning drive in our H-2 up beyond where the paved roads ended to see what we could see in the then almost undeveloped areas beyond Whalehead and Corolla, to Corova. I remember there was even fencing warning visitors about the difficulties traveling through that part of the beach. No roads. Just sand and water and lots of both. But off we went.

The bonus for me that morning wasn't bright blue skies and fabulous curling waves, but a darling family of wild mustangs that were enjoying the solitude and the sweet salty air and the waves. At one point the group moved off and I got a shot of this tiny baby pony just enjoying the heck out of the waves creeping up to him and no-doubt tickling his little horsy tummy.

Doesn't get much cuter than that!!
