Description
In late spring to early summer, I look forward to seeing the flowers in our community garden as they grow and bloom. Also known as the ornamental onion or Persian onion, the purple allium seen here is caught just about mid-way to bursting forth from its bud. It grows on a very tall and sturdy stalk, to as much as three feet tall. The flower head, which is made up of hundreds of tiny, star-shaped flowerets, is about 3 inches wide.
One of the things I like about where we're living now is the beautiful community garden and seeing lots of flowers coming up in the spring that I'm not familiar with. As I said above, this is a purple allium ... well, at least I think it is. I thought it was an agapanthus ... very cool name ... but now I think it's an allium bud. Why on earth would I be thinking about spring flowers when we're in the very heart of peak fall color?
I have no idea, 😁.
I seriously caught myself thinking of early spring this morning for some reason. Maybe because it was gray and rainy and drippy and gloopy. Anyway ... I think flowers are pretty cool year-round.
Loosely ... very loosely ... based on one of my own photos.

Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... this image will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."
