Honored to announce that "Reflections" tied for first place in the 9/11 contest "Weekly Photography Challenge Mirrors" held by the Weekly Photography Challenge Group. Many thanks to the contest administrator Sharon Popek and everyone who voted for my image. Congratulations to the other winners!
A spray of fresh white roses and baby's breath in a crystal vase rest on an antique chest in the long rays of the afternoon sun. Reflected in the ancient mirror with the roses is a beautiful grandmother's clock, reputedly from the 1700's, and the hint of a sturdy white doric column. Unifying the whole is the golden light that pours through the cut glass of the window. Grace and beauty, yes, but as the clock reminds us, time is a fleeting thing. As the life and beauty of the roses will last only so long before their crisp white petals decay and fall, so will ultimately be the fate of the mirror which reflects their beauty and the clock which counts out the minutes. But the sun will continue to shine ... on new roses, on new clocks ... and a whole new us.
