Description
I'm beyond honored to announce that "Watching The Sun Set" placed third in the "All Natural Beauty Of This World" ' s logo contest "Giving Thanks" November 23rd, 2015. My dear old friend, Pip, whom I miss with all my heart (I moved ... hopefully he's fine!) did it for me again!!! My thanks to the contest administrator, Kate Ming-Sun, and congratulations to the first and second place winners, Joy McAdams and Elizabeth Lynne. Thanks, too, to everyone who voted for my image.
A cardinal peers through the gold and green leaves on an early May evening, watching as the sun sets on a perfect day. This is my little friend who waits for me every morning and who will usually come when i call him. He posed for me for quite some time as I clicked away with the Nikon D300 and the 150-500mm OS Sigma lens at 500mm. Shutter 1/400, aperture f/6.3, spot metering and iso 800.

William, thank you so much. This is my darling Pip ... he was practically my pet ... definitely my dear friend of many years standing. We moved in 2015 ... and I miss him terribly!!! I have hopes of someday having another cardinal best friend here at the new house ... hasn't happened yet, though!!!! But fingers remain crossed!!!! Thank you again for your lovely note and of course for the honor of the feature!!! i will tweet the group!!!!

This is lovely Lois, I chased one of these little fellers all around St. Augustine whilst on holiday last week and finally got a shot of him, but I'm afraid the light wasn't as magical as yours. L/F/Tw

He is so very beautiful! I have not seen a Red Cardinal in a long Time..F/V
Lois Bryan replied:
Thank you, Roger and Terrie. They are very territorial. If you have them in your area, attract them with black oiler sunflower seeds ... then once they've established their home base, they'll hang around all the time!!!
