Description
A majestic American Sycamore tree, leafless in winter, stands strong and proud in the light of a golden morning. In the Shenandoah Valley, the skies and the light often work together to grace us with magical scenes.
This is the third version of this tree that I've included here in my portfolio … each the same tree, the same scene, but seen at a slightly different time of day. This tree is located on property near Harpers Ferry ,West Virginia, once owned by Col. Lewis Washington, great-nephew of our first president, George Washington. We have reason to believe that this tree was in existence when Col. Lewis Washington lived here.
An historical note … Col. Lewis Washington was kidnapped from his home, just a short walk from the site of this tree by John Brown during his infamous raid of Harpers Ferry, WV … October 16, 1859 – October 18, 1859 … preceding the United States' Civil War. And during the war itself the whole area was used as camp sites for the soldiers.
Image painted by hand, digitally, and very loosely sketched from one of my own photos using Corel Painter, a Wacom tablet, the art pen stylus and many beautiful digital brushes.
This image was NOT created using AI - Artificial Intelligence.
Fine art purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... it will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."
