Description
The thought of autumn conjures up all the brilliant oranges and rusts and reds and golds and purples, here and there punctuated with emeralds … lit and set aglow with warm sunshine and bright baby blue skies. It's when Mother Nature gives us her best as a parting gift to tide us over until spring and warmth return again to the earth. So exciting!
But there are also fall days when the colors are more muted, the rain falls heavily and our feet get wet from the sloshy ground and our hairstyles are ruined. "Rainy Day In Autumn" is one such day. A time for musings and regrets and soft, sad longings for things and places and people that were and are no more. And maybe some cinnamon toast and Earl Grey tea.
Image created entirely in my imagination … based on a half-memory, half dream of being sick in bed (and missing school … yay!) on a rainy fall day when I was a little kid. My nose buried in a book, I remember looking outside and being transported into the rainy day. No this wasn't the scene outside my bedroom window (though there was a big tree), but I tried to capture the feeling and mood which, for some reason, stayed with me all these years. Hand painted, digitally, in Corel Painter. I actually did this a year or more ago, but it wasn't fall … so I let it sit then forgot about it.

The tree almost looks like a woman walking with her hands out to balance so as not to fall in the stream. It's a beautiful composition with a great use of colors that demonstrate (to me) the walk between life and death. Congratulations on all your features!
