Description
A time honored tradition at the end of ski season at Blue Knob All Seasons Resort in Claysburg, PA is … weather permitting … pond skimming!
At the base of a steep slope a broad shallow hole is dug, lined with a plastic liner, and filled with water creating a chilly lake. Then, after skiing or snow boarding down the slope the bravest among us hope our speed or athletic prowess will carry us across the water to the other side of the lake. Hence the term "Pond Skimming." In addition to the dangers of a chilly dunk, as you can see the skier or boarder may have to dodge a snow ball or two.
Note the boarder's helmet cam … I bet his movie was awesome!
Image captured in March of 2015 with the Nikon D750 and the Nikkor 18-200mm.
See also "Pond Skimming" and "Pond Skimming 3" … more images from the same event, also available here.
Fine art and product purchases of this image will not include a watermark, and if I may make a recommendation ... wall art will look its very best on the fine art paper choice of "picture rag."
